UI Category

Introduction

A UI Category in Joget is a container for UI elements, allowing App Designers to organize and group related elements effectively. Each UI Category can have specific properties and permissions, providing flexibility and control over how elements are displayed and accessed within the application.

Edit category

To add or edit a UI Category, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Userview Builder.
  2. Add a new category or edit an existing one.

When adding Category, you will see the following fields available for configuration:

  • Label: Text displayed as the category's name in the user interface. It helps users identify and navigate to the correct category within the application.

Permission setting

Administrators can control access to various UI categories based on user roles or other criteria. By configuring permissions, you can ensure that only authorized users can view or interact with specific categories and their elements. This enhances security and ensures that sensitive or restricted content is only accessible to the intended audience.

  • Hide From Menu: When checked, the category and its contained elements are rendered on the UI page but hidden from the end user. For example, this is useful for redirecting to an acknowledgment HTML page in a hidden menu after form submission.
  • Permission Type: Control access to the category through permissions. This can restrict visibility based on user roles or other criteria. See the Permission Control documentation for detailed information on setting up permissions.

Development

The process of designing, building, and configuring applications within the platform. It involves creating and organizing UI elements, setting up workflows, and defining permissions to ensure the application meets business requirements. Joget provides a low-code environment that enables developers and non-developers to quickly build and customize applications, improving efficiency and reducing development time.

  • Comment: Allows designers to add notes or descriptions about the category. This can be useful for providing context or instructions to other developers or administrators who may work on the application. Comments help maintain clarity and understanding of the purpose and configuration of each category within the application.

This configuration allows for a more dynamic and user-friendly interface, enhancing the overall experience within the Joget platform.
